Liam Robertson, a famous video game historian, appears to have committed a gaffe when he recently claimed in a podcast that the staff at Bioware Austin are working on the reboot of “Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.” He claimed the project started as a remake or revival of the game, but Robertson hints it could be a reboot.
Reboot May Not Happen At All
However, GameSpot dashes Robertson’s news. The alleged reboot of “Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic” may not happen at all. The studio developed a prototype of the game, but the officers of Bioware Austin did not grant its approval on the venture for full development.
Instead of a “Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic” reboot, the bulk of Bioware Austin workers are deployed to a new IP of the company, led by the Bioware studio in Edmonton which is expected to be announced officially at E3 2017. PVP Live reports that Drew Karpyshyn, the original writer of the game, is back on Bioware since March, but he is working on another new game.
Not A Current Project
Liam Robertson admits to Kotaku he may have misheard about the news on “Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic” while he was talking on Skype, a Redditor shares. He clarifies the video game is not a current project. But Robertson believes it could have evolved into something else or the project died down.
“Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic” has been running since Dec. 20, 2011. The title was successful for some time, however, a lot of players were disappointed by the game because it “was not a true successor to “Knights of the Old Republic 2. Since 2011, the game had five expansions. Since Disney killed the Expanded Universe, Bioware could have a potential problem in continuing the game’s legacy.
