Android Wear 2.0 Update Comes to LG Watch Urbane & New Balance RunIQ Smartwatches This Week

Apr 12, 2017 03:17 AM EDT

Android Wear is Google's trusted platform the smartwatches. After launching Android Wear 1.0 in 2014, it was February 2017 that Google announced the launch of a major upgrade to its OS. Looking at LG Watch Style and LG Watch Style getting the Android Wear update, it is normal for users to eagerly wait for their smartwatch to receive it. The wait is finally over as Google has announced the arrival of the Android Wear 2.0 update.

"Android Wear 2.0 will be available for all supported Android Wear watches in the coming weeks," the official word from the tech and search engine giant. However, Google has claimed that a bug discovered in the final stage of testing has been causing a delay in its release. However, it seems all's well as the latest Android Wear is all set to release soon.

Asus has stated that Asus ZenWatch 2 and Asus ZenWatch 3 would receive the Android Wear 2.0 update in Q2 of 2017. Along with this, Casio Smart Outdoor Watch and Casio Pro Trek would also receive the update as well. The Fossil Q Founder had already received its update and it's time for Fossil Q Marshal and Fossil Q Wander to receive the latest Android Wear update as well, Wareable reported.

It is only the old LG Wear smartwatch, the actual G that has missed out on the Android Wear 2.0 update, but LG Watch R and LG Watch Urbane would receive the update. However, as per Android Authority, those using LG Watch Urbane 2nd generation need to wait until May to receive the update. Above all, it is New Balance RunIQ smartwatch that is fetching all the limelight.

The New Balance RunIQ was on sale a couple of days before the Android Wear 2.0 update came live. Sadly, it was a foolish move from the company's end and they need to release updates soon. Apart from these, Sony SmartWatch 3 is the only smartwatch that won't be receiving the latest Android Wear update.
