Microsoft’s Project Scorpio is equipped with 4K, VR, 1080p Support and even backward compatibility. These impressive features will provide an excellent gaming experience to players so taking the time to get to know the new console is definitely worth it. And this is what this article is all about.
First is its backward compatibility wherein all Xbox Scorpio games need to be compatible with all the games of Xbox One according to Extreme Tech. And the only exemption is VR games as it requires certain specification that Xbox One is not yet equipped with. According to Andrew Goossen of Microsoft Technical Fellow, the company is committed to designing a hardware that emulates the capabilities of the original console even though it’s not going to be easy.
Next is the VR and 4K support feature wherein the new Xbox comes with a Polaris-class GPU and possibly Oculus support, which is more than the minimum spec required for a 1080p VR. Although nothing is sure yet as there are reports that Microsoft’s partnership with Oculus may not continue since the latter is pushing to release a more affordable VR headset. What is confirmed, however, are its hard specs which Eurogamer reports to include 1TB HDD, 326GB/s of memory bandwidth, eight 2.3 GHz custom CPU cores, 12GB GDDR5 memory, 1172MHz GPU, and the 4k UHD Blu-ray disc player.
In conclusion, the new Xbox Project Scorpio is an impressive console that hardcore gamers should look out for. Reports claim that is will be released with a $499 price and with that, players can expect a 4K60 gameplay for many games. Its performance is almost comparable to PCs which is not really surprising, considering how much effort Microsoft is putting into it. And what makes gamers really excited about this console is Microsoft’s effort not to make the same mistakes that other consoles had by offering features that gamers really need and want.
