AMD Ryzen 7 is one of the high performance desktop chips that were unveiled earlier this year. Now the company's mid-range Ryzen 5 chips are set to hit the store next week. This gives hint on the Ryzen 3 entry-level processors to make their way into the attention. However, a recent report coming from the folks from ASRock have apparently revealed some of the key details regarding AMD Ryzen 3.
At this point, there is not much information about Ryzen 3, as AMD has been tight lips in releasing details on the Zen chips prior to their release. However, as anticipated, information is leaking out, and one motherboard manufacturer has revealed some important details about Ryzen 3, as reported by Liliputing.
The information is coming from Computerbase.de that has noted that motherboard maker ASRock posted an update to its CPU Support List page which references the Ryzen 3. According to report the Ryzen 3 1200 will operate with a base clock frequency of 3.1GHz, sports 2MB of L2 cache, and draw 65 watts of power. The supported chipset will be the AMD B350. As for the specs, according to Digital Trends., the AMD's Ryzen CPU lineup includes 3 eight-core processors and the pack is led by the AMD Ryzen 7 1800X, followed by the Ryzen 7 1700X and the Ryzen 7 1700. The base clock frequency ranges from 3.0 GHz to 3.6 GHz and all CPUs feature SMT that enables 16 logical CPUs.
Moreover, the latest speculations surfacing on the net claims that AMD might upgrade the Ryzen 5 CPU series with four new models based on six-core and quad-core designs. The Ryzen 3 processor in question bears the model name "YD1200BBM4KAE" that strongly claims that it's the Ryzen 3 1200 CPU.
However, AMD has already indicated that all Ryzen CPUs will be unlocked and thus overclockable, and so this provides potential Ryzen 3 purchasers an idea of what they'll be working with at Zen's lowest processor. We know that Ryzen 5 will start out at $169, and this also provides an idea of where the Ryzen 3 line will max out in terms of cost.
Other details regarding the AMD Ryzen 3 like the support of same symmetrical multithreading (SMT) technology as Ryzen 5 and 7 is still unknown. Also, we also don't know how many cores each Ryzen 3 version will support.
