Apr 10, 2017 10:15 AM EDT

Latest updates reveal that Google rejected an icon pack for content owned by a third party. According to reports, the technology company has refused to accept an Icon Pack for content that is originally owned by another developer.

According to Android Police, the principal reason why the Icon packs were rejected by google is because they were legally out of bound due to third party interest. The report also stated that seemingly all of the Icon Packs contained trademarked photos that are legally owned by some original developers.

It is also reported that what made the issue even worse is that most icon packs are paid. It is no longer new that Icon Packs that has content owned by a third party are bound to be rejected, as recent reports also noted that the Icon Packs of a developer, which he recently submitted to Google Play Store, was rejected for comprising of content owned by a third party.

According to Bugfixguide, the developer whose Icon Packs were recently rejected due to contents owned by a third party is called Saurabh Gupta. The report stated that Gupta attempted to submit Android O Icon Pack a few days ago but had it rejected due to the aforementioned reason.

It is reported that his Icon Pack was first rejected because it included the word "Android" in its title. However, Gupta's Icon Pack was once again rejected even after it was submitted under another name for contents owned by a third party.

"Remove any content owned by a third party from your app," was the reason provided for the second rejection of the application. While some people are not taking the recent occurrence to heart, as it is believed that it could be an isolated incident caused by a strict reviewer, others are perceiving things differently.

It is reported that Gupta's experience could be as a result of Google adopting a procedure to help it prevent illegal trademark infringement by using another developer's trademarked icons and logos in icon packs. the only way to know what Google is up to is to sit and wait for further updates.
