Latest updates have revealed that Samsung could be planning on releasing foldable Smartphone called the Galaxy X. Although the technology company is yet to confirm the truth or otherwise in this speculation, fans have been getting lots of details from rumors.
It is reported that the Korean tech giant has been working on the foldable display project for some years now, while rumors suggest that Samsung might be ready to unveil the amazing creation anytime soon. Other rumors suggest that the device could debut in 2017.
ETNews also reported that Samsung is already on track t produce foldable smartphones and the tech company is scheduled to enter production of the prototype phone in Q3 of 2017. However, the report noted that the developer intends to produce thousands of prototypes so as to verify the quality of foldable devices.
It is also reported that the developer will keep a close watch on the quality of the prototypes internally once it commences production, and Samsung will enter into the production of the consumer version of the Smartphone if they meet the mark.The upcoming foldable Galaxy X will be the first foldable device in the history of smartphones.
The first details about the foldable device were revealed by Project Valley with the project codename of the smartphone being Galaxy X. Meanwhile, leaks and renders have showcased the device as a normal smartphone that opens up like a book into a larger, tablet-sized display.
Although some rumors suggest that the smartphone would probably debut this year, it is reported that Samsung's principal engineer, Kim Tae-Woong revealed that foldable device would likely be ready to launch in 2019. According to Korea Herald, He added that the tech company still has enough time to produce the foldable smartphones since the bezel-free display currently sells well.
It seems Samsung has various major technical challenges facing the engineers that must be resolved before such a flexible display can be produced. It is reported that the developer intends to launch the single-sided foldable screens first and then the double-sided devices much later.
It is being reported that fans might see lots of foldable devices soon as Google is rumored to have contracted with LG Display to deliver foldable smartphone display panels. LG is reportedly working on a prototype with a significantly high technical level compared to Samsung and the developer is expected to release 100,000 foldable devices in the fourth quarter of 2017.
LG may also be using the foldable technology for other technology companies like Apple, Huawei, and Microsoft. It is reported that Microsoft recently submitted patent applications containing flexible displays.
