Cupertino firm Apple is expected to release a refresh for the iMac all-in-one desktops. Apple previously mentioned that they will be unveiling new products shortly but hadn't specified as to what would it be. New reports suggest that the iMac 2017 might finally be on its way into the markets.
Going into the details from a report by MacRumours, Apple seemed to have suggested that they were, in fact, working on the new iMac 2017 models that are expected to be unveiled anytime soon now. A report suggests that the upcoming iMac variants would see a lot of improvements compared to their predecessors hinting that Apple wants to bring out more powerful workstations for all kinds of users.
The iMac 2017 or so will it be called, will reportedly be equipped with a server-grade Intel Xeon processors. However, details also revealed that an E3 processor with a possible model E3-1285 v6 processor that would also be sporting an integrated P630 graphics chip.
With ECC memory modules making its way into the new iMac 2017 variants, the capacity of these ECC RAMs is expected to be in the range of 16 up to 64GB. ECC or error-correcting code memory works in such a way that it can detect any errors and corrupted data, and fix them which isn't the case with consumer grade RAMs.
Meanwhile, reports from Digital Trends seem to suggest that Apple will be moving away from the current naming scheme for their MacOS operating system. Seems like Apple is keen on implementing AMD chips for their graphics on the iMac 2017 as per previous reports from Bloomberg.
Apple will continue with housing Thunderbolt 3 ports on the new iMac 2017 models which already exist on the current generation Macbook Pro laptops. Thunderbolt 3 technology from Intel uses only a single cable to supply power and as well output the resolution on the display.
