LG G6 Passes Torture Test With Flying Colors

Apr 07, 2017 06:33 AM EDT

There would be no “Bendgate scandal” for the LG G6 smartphone, unlike the Apple iPhone 6, after the new flagship passed a torture test conducted by a well-known technology reviewer. JerryRigEverything used picks, razor blades, a lighter, and his hands to test how strong the Korean phone is. Results showed the device passed the torture test with flying colors.

No Catastrophic Failures

Phandroid reports that the LG G6 showed no catastrophic failures when the famous YouTuber scratched and abused the smartphone using various tools. When he tried to bend the mobile phone using his hands, it provided the best results for the torture test. BGR notes that the glass because it is tucked in behind the metal frame, provided some structural support to the phone’s body.

Even if he applied all force to the LG G6, it barely budged. The tech websites say the torture test result is proof of the overall build quality of the LG flagship. As for the scratch test, the front glass panel of the smartphone was scratched at Mohs level 6, Android Police reports. However, because the phone’s selfie taker is covered by a glass, its earpiece stuck out a bit when the phone was tortured. The website adds the device could be prone to damage if laid face-down often.

Lack Of Lip On Bezel

The fingerprint sensor of the LG G6 was also easily scratched. But it still functioned without issue. Because the phone lacks a lip on the bezel, it leaves the smartphone’s camera vulnerable to damage. Its glass back was also durable against a razor, while the pixels of the display blacked out a few seconds earlier compared to another phone when a cigarette lighter was lit on the flagship.

The LG G6 screen has a pixel density of 564ppi. It is Dolby Vision/HDR10 compliant and has Always On features for notifications, date, and time. The flagship that JerryRigEverything subjected to a torture test is available in Mystic White, Astro Black, and Ice Platinum colors.
