GoTracker Is The Only ‘Pokemon GO’ Tracker Remaining For Android

Apr 07, 2017 04:08 AM EDT

The GoTracker, an Android tracker for “Pokemon GO,” is still available to the public even if Niantic Labs had banned trackers. The game developer periodically takes down unofficial trackers from the Google Play store to ensure the ban is implemented. Gamers, however, have the option to download the GoTracker app from its website.

Useless Native Tracker

According to Kotaku, Niantic Labs and the Pokemon Company sent cease-and-desist letters to makers of third-party Pokemon trackers before the February update when more than 80 new monsters were added to “Pokemon GO.” It resulted in the removal from Google Play Store of more than a dozen third-party trackers which became popular because the game’s native tracker was considered useless. The “Sightings” or “Nearby” features did not work, barely worked, or were not accessible to all players.

After the big sweep in mid-February, besides GoTrack, there was one left for Android and three for iOS, and several web-based trackers for “Pokemon GO.” But these trackers steered clear of the Pokemon IP. These are PokiiMap, PokeSensor, PokeTracker, PokeWhere, PokeHunter.co, and PokeSear.ch.

What Is On The App

The Android app offers everything a “Pokemon GO” player needs in a tracker. GoTracker shows all the Gen 1 and Gen 2 Pokemon in the area, the Gyms, and PokeStops. Also seen are the IV and moves of the monsters. The app is also capable of sorting Pokemon with the user of filters.

According to Korea Portal, “Pokemon GO” players could download the GoTracker through an APK download from the page of the developer. But the only available demo video is in Portuguese language that gamers could watch before they download the app, BGR adds. It is the version 2.2.9.6 that includes a new PokeHash Key screen and improved multi key scanning.

Launched in summer 2016, GoTracker is not affiliated with Niantic Labs and Nintendo, according to the developer’s website.
