Apple Airpods would become a more important product for the company than Apple Watches, claimed a Venture Capital Analyst recently. As per the report, the Airpods would be important than the Apple Watch because they are an extension to the iPhone, Douglas Clinton, a managing partner with Loup Ventures mentioned in a report.
"After using AirPods for the past month, the Loup Ventures team is addicted," Clinton claimed. "We think AirPods are going to be a bigger product for Apple than the Watch," he added. In fact, Airpods are designed to be way more than just wireless earpods for listening music from the iPhone or for making calls. It provides a simple way to connect to Apple's voice assistant, Siri.
"We view AirPods as a natural extension of Siri that will encourage people to rely more on the voice assistant," he said. "By contrast, using Siri on the Apple Watch is less natural because it requires you to hold it up to your face. Additionally, the (watch) screen is so small that interaction with it and information conveyed by it is not that much richer than an AI (artificial intelligence) voice-based interface," Investor's Business Daily reported.
Interestingly, Clinton, in his research note that claimed that Apple Airpods would replace Apple Watch due to several reasons. As per SiliconBeat, Airpods are voice extension of Siri and tends to offer a two way conversation for conveying more information to users. Apple Watches are less natural as users need to hold it close to the mouth. Also, it has a small screen -size, making interaction with it difficult.Clinton claimed that the main feature of Apple Watch is fitness tracking and heart rate monitoring.
Airpods on the other hand offer similar features, Apple had also filed for an advanced earbuds that would track heart rate, temperature, galvanic skin and more. Clinton believes that Apple Airpods would incorporate these features in the next two years. As per Clinton, the Apple Airpods could be the future of Touch ID. He further claimed that ear based biometric identification would become essential for augmented reality (AR) and AI interface.
