Microsoft Surface Book 2 Delayed Until Later This Year; Not Likely to Unveil During Spring Event

Apr 06, 2017 06:13 AM EDT

Previous reports have indicated about the Microsoft's planning for a big Spring event which will conduct the launch of their 'Surface' line-up, which also likely included the announcement of the Surface Book 2. However, now some reports believe that the product isn't even in their plans. This is probably because Microsoft's recent Surface Studio desktop will be the biggest announcement for the Redmond-based company at this time of the year.

Microsoft's next big product launch, Surface Book 2, might have already hit a major issue. Microsoft will reportedly press ahead without the said device - meaning that the company could be set to show off something completely new instead.

The news about the delay is coming from a ZDNet, which quotes Microsoft sources saying that although the firm will still be holding a hardware launch event within the next few weeks. However report also mentioned clearly that this won't feature the launch of the Surface Book 2.

According to Express, Microsoft possibly planning to reveal a whole new type of Surface Book, if recent reports are to be believed. The tech firm is planning a new generation of the device which would drop the original's detachable tablet build in favor of a classic 'clamshell' laptop design. The spring event could be the occasion for Microsoft to launch a new version of its HoloLens headset and a tweaked version of its Surface Studio device.

However, despite delay reports the anticipation is continuing to build around the Surface Book 2, as Microsoft looks set to refresh the original device, released back in October 2015. Reports claiming that the Surface Book 2 will go on sale for around $1,000. This is significantly lower than the starting price of the current Surface Book that starts from $1,499.

With Surface Book 2 another surface device is also highly anticipated that is Microsoft Surface Pro 5. Both of these were rumored to launch in the month of March or April, however latest reports claim launch of these is delayed.
