Samsung Galaxy S7 users can now install the Samsung Galaxy S8's weather application widget on their devices. According to recent reports, users of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge that are running Android Nougat can now get the weather widget that is found on the recently-announced Galaxy S8 by following simple steps.
It seems that the android enthusiasts at XDA Developers are at it again as it is being reported that the Galaxy S8 Themes and Apps forum is currently flooding with useful links to the official Galaxy S8 launcher. Meanwhile, just a few weeks from now, the Samsung Galaxy S8 will hit shelves and users of the Galaxy S7 might want to have a piece of the S8 experience. The Galaxy S8 will be packed with a more powerful Snapdragon 835 chipset compared to S7 and will also include an iris scanner and face recognition technology.
However, according to the Phonearena, the most interesting upgrade that will be included in the Galaxy S8 is the addition of AI assistant Bixby. It is believed that having Bixby and installing the Galaxy S8's weather app widget on the Galaxy S7 will make users of the Galaxy S7 a little more comfortable instead of wishing to own the brand new Galaxy S8.
According to Android Authority, a forum member named Arpit Aggarwal recently uploaded numerous APK files that can change the current Galaxy S7 Touchwiz Samsung Experience weather app into the one found on the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus. The report states that users can do this by following a few simple steps.
To download the file, Galaxy S7 users simply need to find the two APK files and then install them onto their devices. It is reported that users will be able to see the updated widget and app right on the Galaxy S7 home screen. Other reports have also stated that the APK files have worked perfectly on un-rooted Galaxy S7 Edge running Android Nougat.
However, it is still not clear whether the APK files will work on other devices but there is no harm in trying. Besides, from the details gathered from the forum, a member who owns a Galaxy Note 5 running Android Marshmallow reported that the app did not work on his device.
Additionally, going by the comments of other members, the new weather app did not work properly for members that use a launcher different from the stock Samsung Experience launcher.Interested users can simply click on the source link and download the file in order to install the Galaxy S8's weather app widget on Galaxy S7.
