As soon as Nvidia announced the all-conquering GeForce GTX 1080 Ti last March, the company also gave card manufacturers the signal to start cranking out both GTX 1080 and GTX 1060 6GB cards with faster memory. Asus was the first company to respond with new models, but Gigabyte Company is now competing Asus with three new Aorus cards with faster RAM. Gigabyte is offering two new GTX 1080 models with 11GT/s memory along with a single GTX 1060 6GB cards equipped with 9 GT/s RAM.
According to Tweak Town, the Aorus GeForce GTX 6G 9Gbps comes bearing 6GB of 9 GT/s memory which is an upgrade from the 8GT/s stuff that most GTX 1060 cards typically wears. The core clock is the second highest of any Gigabyte's Aorus GeForce GTX 1060 offerings at 1607 MHz base and 1835 MHz boost in the default mode, and 1632 MHz base and 1860 MHz boost in OC mode.
Gigabyte's Aorus GeForce GTX 1060 Xtreme Gaming 6G cards have slightly higher clocks. However, the new Aorus card will be still better; given the 12.5 percent boost in memory bandwidth afforded by its higher memory clock. According to Game-Debate, faster mid-range cards are always appreciated but enhanced performance at the high end is usually more interesting. By this, Gigabyte is about to release a pair of GTX 1080 cards with faster memory, for those without GTX 1080 Titan or Titan X budgets.
Gigabyte's Aorus GeForce GTX 1080 8G 11 Gbps is clearly fast enough and the Aorus GeForce GTX 1080 Xtreme Edition 8G 11Gbps is faster. The regular 11gbps cards have default 1708 MHz base and 1847 MHz boost core clocks while the Xtreme Edition model cranks things up tp 1898 MHz base and 1759 MHz boost speeds. Both cards share the same 11 GT/s GDDR5X memory up from the plain old 10 GT/s stuff that the lion's share of GTX 1080 cards carries onboard. All three cards come with the same port cluster with three DisplayPort connectors, one HDMI jack, and a dual-link DVI-D port.
