Apple has started releasing yet another iOS update with iOS 10.3.1. More fixes are expected but the most notable one could be the part involving 32-bit devices, particularly for the iPhone 5 and 5c. Several other bug fixes are expected to come along with the next OS update.
iOS 10.3.1 has started hitting iPhones and iPads with security improvements as well. The latest iOS patch also addresses the case of WiFi vulnerability which was initially discovered by Google’s Project Zero, 9 to 5 Mac reported. The release notes don’t tell much and the belief is that the update could be minor with the emphasis on bugs and security problems for Apple device owners.
The reason behind this is likely because the majority of the features have been already brought out into the open by iOS 10.3. Among the new features include the “Find My Airpods,” Siri support for cricket scores, the introduction of the Apple File System (AFPS), CarPlay improvements and integrated weather data in the Maps app.
Compared to previous iOS releases, the rollout of iOS 10.3.1 comes a bit of a surprise for most. The main reason for such is that no betas came out, a usual routine that the Cupertino company follows before the final OS is made available to the public, Forbes reported. Also, it comes unannounced barely a week when the iOS 10.3 OTA was released.
Similar to previous updates, iOS 10.3.1 will likely prompt most users of its availability. Alternatively, folks can do a manual check via the Software update section under the device settings or via iTunes. The update is 30 MB in size, meaning storage should not be much of an issue. By the size alone, it seems to hint that this is a minor update addressing security and the 32-bit device compatibility problem.
