Intel's primary rivals have come out with the Ryzen line-up of their processing chips with the introduction of the R7 processors last month. The Ryzen R7 processors pretty much overthrow many Intel chips in terms of performance, for approximately half of its competitor's prices. AMD for a long time hadn't managed to stay dominant in the markets with their last generation of processors hardly managing to stay relevant in the competition. After the successful introduction of the R7 line-up, the company will soon unveil the AMD Ryzen R5 processors on Apr. 11 this year, WCCFTech reported.
It seems that the benchmarks for the AMD Ryzen R5 1400 chip had been leaked on the internet. The R5 1400 is a quad-core processor with 8 threads and comes at a price of just US $169. The R5 1400 is base clocked at 3.2gHz with a possible turbo boost up to 3.4gHz.Reports reveal that the processor goes ham crashing frequently if it's overclocked above the boost clock speeds even with higher voltages. While it's a bit of a downside but it doesn't affect the average PC user since a number of people overclocking a processor is very low.
Since overclocking a processor involves additional expenditure for an air cooler or a liquid cooler, budget users pretty much stick with the stock cooler. With that said, the benchmarks for the AMD Ryzen R5 1400 have been listed on Passmark, the popular benchmarking website that lists all processors to date and ranks them according to the scores they achieve.
Passmark scores for the AMD Ryzen R5 1400 puts peaks at a score of 12400+ which is fantastic for a processor at that price. For comparison, even the 6700k at least according to the chart is easily overthrown by the upcoming R5 processor. Overall, with the new processors from AMD, Intel really has a tough competition in order to bounce back and retain their stronghold in the markets. Gaming, however, is still benefited by Intel processors likely due to better clocks and better overclocking capacities. Intel also offers integrated graphics on board.
