Samsung Galaxy S8 is finally released to its full-on glory and as it goes, most of its competition is now on the lookout as to which features and specification are to be followed. Well, for most Android iterations anyway. Its arch rival iPhone may not be joining the bandwagon after all.

9To5Mac reported via JP Morgan top analyst Rod Hall's note to its clients that Apple's OLED in its upcoming iPhone variant is not expected to be that curved than the S8. As such, iPhone 8 may be veering away from the so-called edge-to-edge "Infinity" display. In addition, Hall has also shared that the average selling price of the forthcoming iPhone line may increase due to the expected premium OLED that will definitively hit an estimated $1000 ASP. On the other hand, the report did not indicate as to which variant will be receiving the said bump.

Hall's report also indicated that iPhone 8 models will retain the 3GB RAM configuration on the premium variant. It added that NAND Flash providers along with the other suppliers are slated to "benefit from the potential content increase in the upcoming iPhone."

In related news, iPhone 8 may also come with a groundbreaking new camera set-up. Forbes shared that Apple may be equipped with a 3D sensing augmented reality front snapper that will debut in the upcoming device. The report was generated from Morgan Stanley's Charlie Chan who indicated that Himax Technologies may grace the said venture.

This purported iPhone 8 feature was previously predicted by famed KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who claimed that the device would come with a revolutionary 3D sensing camera. Kuo revealed that the feature would also come with discreet infrared transmitter and receiver modules that could provide new ways to experience the 3D world.

Apple's iPhone 8 is scheduled to be released in Sept. 2017. It will be unveiled after the release of iPhone 7S and iPhone 7S Plus in the following months.
