Evolution Item Drops In ‘Pokemon GO’ Are Random & Well Distributed

Mar 31, 2017 05:28 AM EDT

There were conflicting results of the evolution item drops in “Pokemon GO” depends on whom the trainer picks as a buddy Pokemon. One player got a Dragon Scale after walking one kilometer with Seadra. But other gamers got multiple evolution item drops despite their Buddy Pokemon being one that does not need special items to evolve.

Time Of Day Has No Influence

At Pokemon GO Hub, a “Pokemon GO” trainer collected data on time and date on evolution item drops to know if the time of day has an influence. However, the trainer debunked the theory. The trainer confirmed, based on data collected, that evolution item drops are well distributed and random.

The “Pokemon GO” trainer collected more than 1,300 entries to test his theory that time and date affected the evolution item drops. But the trainer admitted the data was not collected using scientific methods in terms of having control groups. While several trainers reported evolution item drops taking place at the same time, the number of contradicting reports indicate those are only coincidences, not proof of a correlation.

5 Evolution Item Drops & 5 Buddy Pokemon

The data had five evolution item drops and five Buddy Pokemon recorded from Feb. 16 through March 18. The five “Pokemon GO” evolution item drops were Sun Stone, King’s Rock, Metal Coat, Up Grade and Dragon Scale. The five Buddy Pokemon were Chikorita, Larvitar, Totodile, Mareep and Sunkern, according to Mic.

The total spins ranged from 8,941 to 11,601. But Heavy points out that the latest “Pokemon GO” update made it easier for players to get evolution item drops. With the March 21 update, gamers would receive a random evolution item drops at the end of one week if they visit the same PokeStop daily. There was already a seven-day bonus, however, in the past, the player got XP only and some regular items.
