Blizzard Entertainment is now making big changes for "Heroes of the Storm," a free-to-play online battle arena game. It's beta in now available, update 2.0 features a new variety of content while moving on far away from some longstanding features behind.
According to IGN, the game director Alan Dabri stated that this will be the new bold era for the "Heroes of the Storm" in a developer's update which covers much of what looks seems so different in the game's next iteration. The game's update 2.0 will feature a new progression system along with hero level caps and a flatter experience curve than its previous installments. Players can now maximize their character's level beyond level 20.
"Heroes of the Storm" separate level has also been streamlined where it now reflect the total sum of all hero levels obtained for each player. Alan Dabri discussed that the player level became inscrutable after reaching level 40; giving players little ways to gauge on how much time they had spent on the game. By this, the progression becomes more meaningful for "Heroes of the Storm" updates 2.0. However, Blizzard Entertainment also plans to revamp the reward system to make it more similar to a popular multiplayer game "Overwatch."
Instead of doling out currency or skins upon leveling up, the studio company is now giving "Heroes of the Storm" players to have a chance for looting chest every time hero levels up. Loot chests may feature nearly any item in the game which includes a randomly dropped cosmetic item, heroes, colors, and even rare ones such as Cassia; a new character for the game who comes from "Diablo 2." According to Gamasutra, these items were previously requiring players to earn them and purchase with actual cash. Good news for the update 2.0 is that players can use in-game currency to purchase new heroes.
"Heroes of the Storm" update 2.0 also features a new currency and shards that players can use to buy cosmetic items in the game. "Heroes of the Storm" beta version for 2.0 is live today and the full update will be on April 25, 2017.
