Earlier reports indicated that Microsoft has planned for a big Spring event that will play host to the launch of their 'Surface' line-up of hardware, which also likely included the announcement of the Surface Book 2. Various sources now believe that the said product isn't even in their plans yet. This is likely due to the fact that Microsoft's recent Surface Studio desktop will be the biggest announcement for the Redmond-based company at this time of the year.
According to reports from dedicated Microsoft tabloid Windows Central, it seems like Microsoft's traditional 2-in-1 Surface Book 2 isn't even ready for the launch. The new product from Microsoft was expected to launch at a starting price of US $1100. This has led to further rumors leading to numerous speculations as to what Microsoft are unveiling at their Spring event. Microsoft's typical Surface launches take place in New York but there's no official information about the event from the developers themselves.
That said, Surface devices are kind of a signature hardware from Microsoft for which the Surface Book 2 would've been a nice addition. The following details from The Verge reveal that the information from ZDNet's Mary Jo Foley mentioned that Microsoft will continue with hosting the event even if there's no presence of the rumored device. It's expected to come with a detachable display which was supposed to be unveiled in April this year.
Other details also believe that the production for Surface Book 2 is delayed for some time. Fans are now speculating as to what might be the actual reveal from Microsoft at the event. Some reports believe the new Surface phones are highly unlikely. Even though they've been making rounds in the rumor mills, they're expected to be unveiled sometime in 2018. The hardware industry is waiting for Microsoft to come out with an announcement for the same.
