An enhanced edition of a cult classic game of the Dungeons- and Dragons-based fantasy RPG would release on April 11 on Android and iOS devices for the first time. Beamdog, a Canadian video game developer, said that besides mobile devices, “Planescape: Torment Enhanced Edition” would launch for the PC, Mac and Linux. The roll out comes almost 18 years since Black Isle Games, the developer, and Interplay, the publisher, released in 1999 “Planescape: Torment.”
Revamped Interface Supports 4K Screens
Android Authority reports that for the release of “Planescape: Torment Enhanced Edition,” Chris Avellone, the lead designer of the original game, worked with Beamdog to help develop updates on the gameplay, bug fixes, and enhancements. The purpose of the updates is to ensure the new game would work well on mobile devices and high-tech PCs. The upcoming game includes a revamped interface that supports 4K screens.
“Planescape: Torment Enhanced Edition” would also come with extra gameplay features. The features include tab highlighting, combat log, area zooming and quickloot. While it would have a remastered music score, there is no new content that Beamdog added to the game which would sell at a one-time price of $9.99 on Google Play Store.
One Of The Best RPG Games Ever Released
The original “Planescape: Torment” is considered one of the best role-playing games ever released, WCCFTech notes, because of its unique setting and story. Along with the announcement of the launch date for “Planescape: Torment Enhanced Edition,” Beamdog released a new trailer. The Canadian developer is the team behind “Gate 1 & 2” of Baldur and the “Icewind Dale Enhanced Editions.”
Hard Core Gamer points out that Beamdog has gained fame in the gaming community for taking classic PC RPGs like “Planescape: Torment” and giving it reverential treatment like it did for “Planescape: Torment Enhanced Edition.” The enhancements made the new Beamdog game playable on modern gadgets and added quality-of-life improvements, but at the same time, it protected the game’s core mechanics to keep the player experience faithful to the original.
