No Virtual Barter Under ‘Pokemon GO’ Trading System, Says Niantic CEO

At the recently concluded Mobile World Congress, Niantic CEO John Hanke gave more details about the upcoming “Pokemon GO” trading system. Among the key features of the trading system that he shared were it would not be done using the Internet. Traders must be within the same proximity, although Hanke did not give a benchmark to define proximity.

No To Virtual Trading

But definitely, the trading system excludes any “Pokemon GO” player who is 100 miles away from a potential trade partner, Otakukart reports. With this standard, virtual trading is also ruled out. The gaming website believes being proximate means being within a distance in which the two players could catch a Pokemon.

Express notes that the new trading system, which would be included in the future “Pokemon GO” update, would help make the popular game very playable in the urban areas, but it would affect rural gamers. The British daily hopes the trading system would be based on 2016 early patents built around transport hubs.

Problem For Rural Areas & Unpopular Destinations

Besides rural areas, it would also leave out countries that are not popular travel destinations. However, Gosunoob acknowledges that Niantic boosted the spawn rates in “Pokemon GO” in places far from urban regions. The website likewise acknowledges the presence of spoofers and cheaters for which Niantic Labs appear not ready to deal with.

The “Pokemon GO” trading system and PvP are possibly already in the game, however, there were initial problems that involve fixing the fundamentals. Forbes believes trading would be introduced before the PvP because for the PvP to be of use to anyone, there needs a reworking of the entire battle system. It warns of trading possibly ruining many aspects of the game such as the creation of a Poke Black Market where Pokemon would be traded for cash.
