Mar 29, 2017 04:04 AM EDT

Recently, a news broke out saying that a group of hackers called the Turking Crime Family will hack 250 million iCloud accounts by April 7 if Apple will not pay them at least $700,000 ransom. The group also claimed that they have successfully accessed to millions of Apple accounts and passwords.

They also said that they will resettle all of the iCloud accounts and wipe all information in iPhones unless Apple will follow them. Apple said in a statement that the list of email addresses the Turkish Crime Family obtained, has only 54 valid accounts with a password, as what Mobile Syrup has reported.

While it sounds less terrifying as it sounds, it would not be bad if you are prepared if ever the Turkish Crime Family successfully carried out their plan. Here are some of the tips on how to prevent your iCloud account to be hacked:

First, it is the best way to protect your iCoud account by changing it now to something new and original. CNET has reported that with this way, you could make sure that your name will be off now from the list since they still have the old information.

The publication also advised that your new password in your iCloud account should be at least 16 characters with combinations of numbers, symbols, upper and lowercase letters, and spaces. They also recommended that you would not repeat words, use usernames, pronouns, and other predefined letter or number patterns.

Lastly, you should not recycle your previous iCloud account passwords. Hackers could still take a hint if you're gonna use an old password.

The second tip is to turn on the two-factor authentication or also known as 2FA or 2-step verification in your iCloud account. Wired has reported in their publication that it is about as close to being fully locked-down. With this authentication, you can get by getting a confirmation code on your other devices that you have pre-authorized for verification.

Third and last tip, you should always use a password manager for your iCloud account. With a password manager, you could increase your protection and create the perfect and unhackable password.
