The Cupertino-based company has just officially released the latest iOS 10.3 to the public. This update will most probably be the last major release of iOS 10. However, iPhone users still need to see how this latest operation system will measure up against the previous version. Let's find out the features it can offer and look deeper into this updates through a speed test comparison.
According to The Verge, Apple has just marked the release of the third major iOS 10 update. It has been rolled out to iPhone and iPads. Similar to various software updates, there are lots of undocumented changes. As revealed by the Apple engineer Renaud Lienhart, who directly worked on the tech giant's operating system, the latest iOS version feels snappier for the reason that several animations were, to some extent, tweaked & shortened. Hence, these yield a better result.
The new-fangled APFS (Apple File System) in this updated version also helps in making the device seem faster. Certain apps that write a lot of disk data will also seem faster, just like in video processing. The new OS also helps in fixing several odd interface bugs, frame drops and skips in iOS 10.
On a speed test comparison test reported by WCCF Tech, the bootup speed on iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 are faster than on the iOS 10.3. The iPhone 6s boots up more or less the same time on iOS 10.3 compared to the iPhone 6s running on iOS 10.2.1. Meanwhile, the bootup speed on iPhone 5s with iOS 10.3 is slower than on iOS 10.2.1. In addition to this, the speed of various applications launched remains the same on all iPhone devices running on both versions. There might be no significant change on that note, but the APFS is expected to bring a major leap in Apple's performance and speed, more or less.
As this will mark a major 10.x update, the latest version showcases significant additions, minor design tweaks, and changes. Furthermore, one of the biggest features that consumers might want to check out is the "Find My AirPods" feature, which has been added to the "Find My iPhone" function to help users with this earphone to locate it should the same be misplaced, as per Mac Rumors
