The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is one of the most anticipated devices for both the consumer as well as the prosumer base, likely due to its form factor, which makes it easy for anyone to carry around. That said, it's been a year since Microsoft came out with a successor to the existing Surface Pro devices and enthusiasts are eagerly waiting for Microsoft to at least reveal their upcoming product. Earlier, it was reported that the likely delay in the Microsoft Surface 5th generation products were due to unavailability of Intel's current generation Kaybee lake chipsets.
While the seventh generation of Intel's consumer processor chips has been in the markets for a couple of months now, a longer wait meant more frustration for potential surface device buyers. Now, details from the Business Insider reveals that Microsoft plans to hold a special launch event for their new fifth generation of Surface Pro devices before the end of Spring this year. In a statement from ZDNet, it's understood that Microsoft will also bring out a new Surface laptop and a 'Surface Book 2' at the same event.
Further details report that the new Surface book is likely a cheaper variant, aimed at students and faculty, that's expected to be announced in the coming weeks. There hasn't been a major launch by the Redmond giant, since their iconic 'Surface Studio' for prosumers and creative professionals. Another report, from PCAdvisor, now speculates that the rumored Surface Pro 5 devices will be running on AMD's Ryzen processors with what would be a major blow to their competitors Intel.
The report believes that a rumored launch trailer showcasing the new Surface device displays the text "Intelligence powered by AMD Ryzen and Radeon" also directly hinting that AMD's Vega chips might be present on the upcoming Surface devices. This is as per a leaked report from a Chinese website that also claims Microsoft is expected to launch the Surface Pro 5 with a 4K display.
