HTC is finally rolling out the Android 7.0 Nougat update to users of HTC One A9 in Europe, starting with Belgium. The Android 7.0 Nougat update has started rolling out to the HTC One A9 units which have sold in the US a bit more than a couple of months ago. And now it's finally time for the Nougat version to make it to One A9 device that were purchased in Europe.
The Android 7.0 Nougat update rollout is already on its way, so if you have a One A9 and got it from Europe, whether it is unlocked or from a carrier, it doesn't matter, perhaps now's a good time to manually check for updates, if you haven't received a notification about the situation, as per GSM Arena.
News of the Nougat update to HTC One A9 came in an official tweet from Graham Wheeler, who is the Product and Service Director for HTC in Europe, Middle East, and Africa. The software version of the update is 2.17.401.2.
Initially, HTC has said that users who have unlocked version of the HTC One A9 would receive software updates within 15-days. However, HTC had to drop that promise that is why it is being said that the European version of the phone is starting to receive the update now. The update also includes the February security patch, as per Android Soul.
Android 7.0 Nougat update will bring Multi-Window to your HTC One A9, and allow you to be more productive by viewing two apps side by side. Doze is improved, neither are those apps that drain battery life by connecting to the network in the background. The latest emoji from Unicode 9.0 will come with Android 7.0 Nougat, and so are customized Quick Settings. With the Nougat update, you can also expand certain notifications and reply to email, tweets and other messages directly from the notifications screen.
As is the nature of OTA updates, it won't hit all devices at the same time. So, worry not and wait until you get the pop-up notification. Also, you can always check for the update manually via Settings > about device > System updates and click on the "Check for updates" button.
