Moto Z Droid & Moto Z Force Droid Getting OTA Update With March Security Patch

Mar 27, 2017 07:04 AM EDT

Verizon Wireless has started pushing out a new update for the Motorola Moto Z Droid and Moto Z Force Droid. The latest OTA update includes the latest Android security patches for March 2017.

According to Verizon Wireless, the update arrives as software version NCLS25.86-11-4-6-8 and brings Android security fixes for the month of March. However the update is still based on Android 7.0 Nougat, so you will have to be a little more patient for the Android 7.1 Nougat update.

Apart from bringing the latest security patch, the update - which is hitting units on Verizon's network - is also expected to include some performance-related enhancements. The OTA update also includes the usual bug fixes, as per the GSM Arena.

Since the update has just started rolling out, most Moto Z Droid and Moto Z Force Droid owners will need to wait for a day or two for the update to pop up on their units. Although it might be a minor update, OTA updates are always rolled out in phases and it takes at least a few days for an update to be rolled out to all units on a carrier's network.

Whenever the update is available for your smartphone you will see an automatic update notification on your screen that will prompt you to download and install the update. However, if you haven't received the notification for the update yet, then head to Settings > About Device > Software Updates to check for it manually. Before installing the update, make sure your device is more than 50 percent charged and connected to a WiFi or Cellular network to avoid extra data charges.

According to Android Soul, the Android Marshmallow based Moto Z Droid and Z Force Droid were bumped to Nougat OS on Verizon back in November last year. The update had brought some cool features to these devices including the split-screen mode and quick app switching.
