Along with the "Pokémon GO" Water Festival Event, shiny Pokémon is being encountered for the first time in the game. So far, Gyarados and Magikarp are only Pokémon who are granted with this exclusive shiny charisma.
Trainers around the globe have reported sightings of a golden Magikarp in the wild. This said Shiny Magikarp are extremely rare; so beware and pay close attention to every Magikarp you encounter while going out exploring the world of "Pokémon GO," make sure you don' miss the opportunity to catch one.
According to Polygon, a shiny Pokémon was previously officially known as alternate coloration or rare coloration. It was called Color Pokémon in Pokémon Stadium 2 which is a specific Pokémon with different coloration to what its usual species; it's one of the many differences that a Pokémon can have within its species. As for "Pokémon GO," the term Shiny Pokémon was first created by fans to refer to a sparkling sound effect and animation made at the start of an encounter. Eventually, this term fell into official usage in Generation IV.
In the original Pokémon Games, Shiny Pokémon is extremely rare; it's like one of a thousand. Whereas in "Pokémon GO," it might turn out to be more like Evolution Items which can estimate as 1 over 300; a random thing about chances. Shiny Pokémon can be shown in Pokedex, not as separate entries but as a new badge on the main entries which is similar as genders of the Pokémon. Reminders for all Niantic players, make sure that you're running the latest version of "Pokémon GO."
In running "Pokémon GO," players may tap the Menu Button on the right side of the screen and simply tap the Pokedex which is located at the top middle, then tap on the Pokémon you want to check; only for Gyarados and Magikarp only and look for the shiny badge. A shiny badge will show up in every Shiny Pokémon caught, as noted by Forbes.
In catching for Shiny Magikarp and Shiny Red Gyarados, a player must always use Curveball every time, a player must max out its medals, he/he must consistent for finding those Pokémon, use Razzberries when needed, and always use Great and Ultra Balls to acquire those extreme rare Pokémon such as Shiny Magikarp and Shiny Red Gyarados; which can obviously be found in near water areas.
