"Boruto: Naruto Next Generations" is set to make its much-awaited premiere on television. Similarities between the spin-off series and the original Naruto storyline are bound to happen. However, Masashi Kishimoto, creator of the Naruto and Boruto stories, has promised that the two titles are going to be different from each other.

According to Anime News Network, "Boruto: Naruto Next Generations" will be making its television debut on April 5, 2017, on TV Tokyo. The spin-off series is set to be launched a mere two weeks after the emotional conclusion of "Naruto Shippuden."

While fans can expect that "Boruto: Naruto Next Generations" will faithfully follow Kishimoto's original material, at least for the sake of continuity, Masashi Kishimoto revealed that the spin-off series will be better than the original.

This time, though, the son gets to carry his father's legacy. And by carrying Naruto's legacy, it means shouldering the responsibility for the success of "Boruto: Naruto Next Generations." Fans can look for clues in "Boruto: Naruto the Movie" to see the differences between the two anime.

Whereas the child Naruto performs his pranks to force his peers and superiors to take notice of him, Boruto wreaks havoc and mayhem just to catch his father's attention in "Boruto: Naruto Next Generations." Boruto also resents being the son of the Hokage while Naruto grew up without a family and longed to be accepted by everyone.

Being the son of the Hokage, fans expect Boruto to follow in his father's footsteps. However, in "Boruto: Naruto Next Generations," Boruto himself revealed that he wants to become a soldier for Konoha just like Sasuke Uchiha.

So carrying his father's legacy for Boruto doesn't really mean aiming to become Hokage. As a major plot twist, it couldn't have shown the difference between Boruto and Naruto any better. Boruto is so hell-bent in becoming his own person, and not just being recognized as the Hokage's son. To achieve his goal, he opted to train under Sasuke Uchiha in "Boruto: Naruto Next Generations."

That said, fans can expect "Boruto: Naruto Next Generations" to have the same well-written and well-executed scenes that have become a trademark of the Naruto Series. Fans will be treated with a good balance between emotional and dramatic scenes blended with amazing fight scenes the series have provided for the last 10 years.

In other news, Spiralling Sphere confirms that Noriyuki Abe, former director of the anime "Bleach," will be the chief director for "Boruto: Naruto Next Generations" while Hiroyuki Yamashita, director of "Boruto: The Naruto Movie," will helm the spin-off series.

"Naruto Shippuden" episode 500 aired last March 23, 2017. Fortunately, fans wouldn't have to wait for a few years for new Naruto stories. Take a bow Naruto, you've done your part, let Boruto carry the load in "Boruto: Naruto Next Generations."
