‘No Game No Life’ Anime Movie News: Premiere Night On July 15

Promotional materials for the AnimeJapan event on March 26 state that the anime movie “No Game No Life” would have a July 15 premiere. In the March 26 event, three voice actors from the upcoming movie would take part in a stage event. The voice actors are Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Sora), Ai Kayano (Shiro) and Yoko Hikasa (Stephanie Dola).

People Behind The Movie

The director of “No Game No Life” is Atsuko Ishizuka whose film credits include “Hanayamata” and “Prince of Stride: Alternative.” However, Kouji Ohya, the character designer for the TV anime, was replaced by Satoshi Tasaki for the movie anime. Satoshi Tasaki’s portfolio includes “Fairy Musketeers” and “RIDEBACK,” Crunchyroll reports. Handling the screenplay is Jukki Hanada of “Love Live!” while anime production is by Madhouse.

In hints tweeted last summer by Thiago Furukawa Lucas, also known as Yuu Kamiya, Riku and Shuvi would be featured in “No Game No Life.” The film is based on his light novel by Yuu Kamiya, published under the MF Bunko J Imprint as part of nine novels released between April 25, 2012, and Aug. 25, 2016. Riku is an 18-year-old Imanity who is one of the main protagonists in Tet’s story. He met Shuvi while on an expedition and brought her to his colony when he lost in a game against Shuvi.

From TV To Silver Screen

The TV anime aired in spring 2014 and gained a lot of attention, according to Good News Anime. While the TV anime aired, Crunchyroll streamed it. In North America, the “No Game No Life” TV anime was released on home video by Sentai Filmworks. Although the author hinted Riku and Shuvi would be in the movie version, the stars of the anime are still Sora and Shiro, the brother and sister team known for being brilliant NEETs or Not in Education, Employment, or Training.

Besides the three voice actors mentioned, according to Anime News Network, the other voice actors are Yukari Tamura (Jibril), Yuka Iguchi (Clammy Zell), Mamiko Noto (Feel Nilvalen), Miyuki Sawashiro (Izuna Hatsuse) and Rie Kugimiya (Teto).
