Apple Buys Utility App ‘Workflow’ For An Undisclosed Sum

Apple has successfully completed yet another acquisition with the buyout of 'Workflow', a utility app that was developed by a start-up of students attending the WWDC. The app also successfully bagged the 'Apple Design Awards' for the year of 2015. Reports indicate that it was only a matter of time for the Cupertino firm to go ahead with the buyout.

Workflow is a unique utility app that lets users combine different actions on an iPhone and an iPad. With customizable options, the design helps users with a desktop-like environment. Previously, it was sold at a price of US $2.99 on the app store. Tech Crunch in their report mentions that Apple had long been praising the Workflow app for its great accessibility and other implementations to it.

Details from the report believe that Apple plans to eliminate its current price and let their users make use of Workflow for free. With a clear-cut labeling system and other options like drag/drop, it was one of the highly praised iOs apps from its user base. Apple finally closed the deal on the acquisition for an undisclosed sum.

The app was developed a small team of students, particularly Ari Weinstein, who happened to be a former jailbreaker. They developed the Workflow app that lets users combine apps and their functions and even automate certain tasks. "We are thrilled to be joining Apple," said Weinstein in a statement reported by the website.

Other reports from The Verge also reported that the app has been receiving regular updates with added support for the Apple Watch. Workflow seems to have been successful in helping the blind and also for those with low-vision. It's also believed that Workflow's existing integrations will continue to be updated on a regular basis.

Apple's accessibility engineer Dean Hudson highly praised the Workflow app and was initially excited to see the way it took care of accessibility and other voice integrated features. The developers, on the other hand, spoke about the acquisition and highlighted that it will only help them in continuing to develop their app to greater heights.
