The massively popular augmented-reality game "Pokemon GO" just received an update. While it is not the update that "Pokemon GO" fans are waiting for, this recent revision focuses on minor in-game tweaks. The good news, however, is that Niantic Labs has hinted that Legendary Pokemon are coming this year!
According to GameSpot, the minor in-game tweaks involved implementing regarding minor text fixes, and refining how "Pokemon GO" trainers can receive rewards for completing a challenge. With this recent update now live, "Pokemon GO" will now sport version 0.59.1 for Android, and version 1.29.1 for iOS.
Now that this recent update is live, "Pokemon GO" trainers will be able to receive a random evolution item for completing a seven-day "First PokeStop of the Day" challenge. This changes the previous reward system wherein players receive 2500 XP and other items for the Photo Disc after visiting a PokeStop seven days in a row.
While these minor in-game fixes are important updates, Niantic Labs CEO John Hanke, in an interview with Wired Germany, teased that Legendary creatures would be introduced into the "Pokemon GO" this year. "I can safely say we'll see more of it (Legendary Pokemon) this year," Hanke said. Among the Legendary Pokemon expected to be introduced within the game in 2017 include New, Mewtwo, Ho-Oh, and Lugia, among others.
In other "Pokemon GO" news, product manager Tatsuo Nomura, speaking with Polygon at the recently concluded Game Developers Conference, revealed that trading will not be performed via the Internet. Nomura stated that Pokemon trainers should be in close to each other to perform the trade.
While no specific distance have been revealed, one of Niantic Labs goal is to urge "Pokemon GO" players to interact in real life. That said, the trading feature would be introduced later this year, possibly after Niantic Labs are sure that they have the right mechanics for trading.
