Android ‘O' Update: Never-Before Seen Features Expected From New Mobile OS

Google's next and upcoming operating system for Android devices, is expected to be named Android O. While the actual naming, suitably a sweet treat, is rumored to be called as Android Oreo, the internet search giant has already announced developer previews for the eight generation of the Android operating system. Likewise every year, 'Android O' is expected to be announced with a host of never seen before features on Android.

An in-depth analysis from The Verge explains about all the potential features that Google is expected to be integrated into their new Android O operating system that will likely be rolled out with the next generation of 'Pixel devices' early in November. Among those that are unique to the ecosystem, users will now be able to snooze notifications for minutes if not totally. Details reveal that the feature lets user pull down all notifications and mute them out for a set period of 15,30 or even a full hour of time.

On the other side, Google plans to allow users to customize background colors for their apps that alert users requiring urgent attention. The likely color change can be quickly recognized by the user and necessary actions can be taken. Meanwhile, the settings menu is expected to be totally revamped for Android O, with a more organized layout. The report mentioned that all types of communicative features will be bundled to a single block and can be expanded further. Other reports from CNet highlight the new notifications system that will reportedly let users bundle a single kind of notifications and then mute the same so avoid distractions.

For example, all social media based notifications will be bundled together, which can be silenced and that will affect all apps falling into the same set. Apart from that, the phone lock screen will see customizations that were not possible on the operating system itself, except for ROMs that helped users take care of these problems. Overall, Google is trying to combine all features for Android O that were previously available on custom ROMs, to the operating system itself.
