WhatsApp had rolled out a new Status option last month. It was similar to Instagram and Snapchat stories. The latest feature allows users to update photos or videos that would disappear after 24 hours. Sadly, the new feature led to the removal of the old status feature. It received backlash from users.

Interestingly, WhatsApp was fast enough to deal with the issue and brought back the old status feature. It has re-enabled the feature in the new version (2.17.107) BGR reported. The update is available and users can download it from the Google Play Store.

The benefit of the old status feature is that it doesn't disappear after 24 hours. This status is also visible on the user's profile page. In order to add the status, users need to open the three dots on the top corner and tap settings. The users would be able to see their name, WhatsApp profile photo as well the status.

According to Express, to change the status, users needs to tap the photo and in About and Phone Number section, users can set default status. However, users can also write something on their own to set as the status. Along with the old status, the new Instagram and Snapchat type feature is also available.

The WhatsApp users can now have a permanent text message as a status as well as add photos of current happenings through the status stories or short videos. To do that, users need to tap the third tab called status and click on add status. This option is located at the bottom corner.

On choosing add photos, the camera opens up along with a series of images. The users can either click a photo, record a video or add existing photos from the gallery. That's not all, users also get an option to crop images, add texts, doodles or emojis. After completing the steps, users need to hit send option at the bottom. This would send the status to the user's WhatsApp contacts.
