American multinational technology company Apple has revealed a new iPad with 9.7-inch screen. This was done after the company phased out the iPad Air series from its line-up of tablets.
Now, the Apple iPad roster consists of iPad mini 4, iPad Pro models, and the new iPad. The new device with 9.7-inch screen will be available on Friday at the base price of $329. It is the lowest priced for a full-sized iPad.
Compared to the iPad Air 2 that it replaces, Apple's new iPad has a swifter A9 chip and brighter screen than the replaced iPad Air 2.. It is also larger than the $399 iPad Air, according to an article by The Verge.
In addition to the cheap iPad, Apple released a new red colour variant for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. They said the smaller iPhone SE model will be available in 32 and 128 GB, replacing the 16 GB and 64 GB of its previous models.
The hardware updates in the company's device like the iPad and iPhone are considered as progressive improvements since they were announced without a media event that would attract the audience. Apple is also expected to reveal an update to its flagship phone this fall, according to a report by 9 to 5 Mac.
This phone has reportedly have new features like wireless charging, 3D facial recognition and a curved display. So far, there are no other updates for the iPad.
In other news, Apple announced a new app for creating videos and sharing them with friends on iPhone and iPad. This new feature pushes Apple closer to competing with the features in social networking apps like Snap Inc.
Clips, the name of the app, allows users to add captions and speech bubbles in their videos and share them on various social networks such as Facebook, Instagram or Apple's own messaging app. But unlike Snapchat or other any messaging apps, users can now add captions to videos using their voice.
