Niantic has tried its darn best to make sure that “Pokemon Go” player safety is prioritized. One method used is the speed restriction that prevents people from collecting any rewards while driving. The only problem with that is that Niantic is unable to distinguish drivers from passengers. In short, “Pokemon Go” players in transit are covered by the rule.
While that may seem unfair to some players, the restrictions applied by Niantic for “Pokemon Go” are far from perfect. There are still plenty of bugs and exploits that need to be addressed and the speed restriction has been weeded out as one of them. Credit goes to Reddit user “CatFrogArts” who explained how the flaw can come in hand even when on the go.
The “Pokemon Go” bug is tied up to the game journal. If a player opens it up and is also near enough the PokeStop regardless of traveling speed, one can get the loot that is usually paid out when the circle is spun.
If not that, there is another bug that could work according to Twinfinite. Opening and immediately closing the in-game journal during a certain time will throw the game servers off. This means that car speed won’t be tracked. While these discoveries could work, they are alternatives to “Pokemon Go” players who are passengers and not the ones actually driving.
It may not be much but these revelations could come in handy for “Pokemon Go” players. There is lots of ground to cover with the 80 new pocket monsters and most are trying to snag them as fast as they can. Niantic may be working on a patch to cover this discovery, hopefully, something that will include properly distinguishing a driver and a passenger. While coming up with a solution seems broad at this point, the responsibility still falls on the gamer, knowing when to play and when to focus on the road.
