Jon Fingas of Engadget has reported that Fossil is one of the few smartwatch makers who fulfilled their promise of rolling out Android Wear 2.0 update in their products. TAG Heuer, a luxury watchmaker, also promised to the smartwatch market that they will also have the update on the end of the month.
The Android Wear 2.0 update will bring some upgrades to the Fossil smartwatches. Ashley Carman of The Verge also reported that the update will bring the Google Assistant feature to the smartwatches. It means that the updates smartwatches can now reply directly to text messages by just using the keyboard, handwriting feature, or Smart Reply.
The Android Wear 2.0 update would also have some upgrades that would make fitness enthusiasts happy with the update on their Fossil smartwatches. The update would come with tracking features and sensors that could track user locations using GPS without the necessity for the smartphone. The Google Fit App can now detect users when they are doing jogging, stretching, or any other workouts.
Moreover, the Android Wear 2.0 update is the first major update rolled out by Google for the smartwatch platform. The huge update brings updates that are not present in the first one like the LTE function and customizing the watch face.
But not everything is perfect with this Android 2.0 update. Lindsay Rittenhouse of The Street reported that most smartwatches are problematic with the battery life.
Users are worried that with the Android 2.0 update, it would worsen the problem of the Fossil smartwatches lasting for only less than a day. With this, Google and Fossil have yet to address this concern.
