Game experts give “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” two thumbs up because it is different from other games which rely on iconic formula, exploring dungeons, solving puzzles and defeating bosses. Its open-world theme, day-and-night cycle, different weather conditions and more challenging enemies of the game gives it the edge over other games. Even compared to other Zelda games, it stands out.
Played On Own Terms
One reviewer describes “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” as the first Nintendo game that felt like it was made “in a world where ‘Half-Life 2,’ ‘Halo,’ ‘Grand Theft Auto 3’ and ‘Skyrim’ happened.” Besides those four games, “Minecraft” was also mentioned by Eurogamer because it is a game about the possibility or the space gamers play on their own terms. The game that was launched with the Nintendo Switch allows players to go anywhere, any time and claim any victory as theirs because the game was won because of the players’ skills, perseverance and being smart.
According to Kotaku, three gamers have finished “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” since it was published. The first victor, speedrunner SethBling, completed his route successfully with a time of 2:22:47 on March 4. On the same day, barely seven hours after SethBling made a world record, Orcastaw cleared it also with a time of 3:39:39. He used two extra bosses and collected health items and extra weapons to win the final battle. Finally, Sockfolder, a third speedrunner, discovered the best way to the last dungeon.
Massive Change In Design Philosophy
For Polygon, what made “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” stand out is because Nintendo brought a massive change in the game’s design philosophy and the manner it treats players. Since 1991, it is the first main Zelda title that made gamers feel that its players are implicitly respected. At the same time, it demands the player’s respect.
