Early rumors suggested that the Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 will use the Snapdragon 660 chipset from Qualcomm. However, a recent leak revealed that the phone will instead use MediaTek's Helio P25.

This new information came out after there were rumors saying that Xiaomi is preparing to unveil the Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 for this month. In the previous leaks, they phone will use the Snapdragon 660 chipset and a single rear camera. This information was considered odd because the original Redmi Pro used a dual camera setup, being the first Xiaomi phone to do so.

However, GSM Arena reported that the leak coming from China contradicts the first information given. The Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 will be powered by the Helio P25 by MediaTek and not the Snapdragon 660.

Gadgets 360 also reported that the system on a chip (Soc) will have an octa-core CPU that consists of four Cortex-A53 cores that are set up to 2.5GHz. The another four will only go up to 1.6 GHz. Reports also suggested that it will come up with ARM Mali-T880MP4 GPU and it will support for the Cat.6 LTE.

The new leak said that Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 will have its original selling point by having the dual rear camera, continuing the feature from its successor. The phone is said to sport two 12 MP sensors on the back.

Rumors also suggested that the Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 will have an all-metal design and a 2.5D curved glass on top of the display. The device will also have two version, with the first with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage while the second with 6GB and 128GB.

The first version of Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 is suggested to have the price of $231 or CNY 1,599. The second one will be sold for $260 or CNY 1,799.

Tech 2 has reported that the Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 is expected to be launched by the end of the month. However, there is still no specific date that was confirmed by the company.
