Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Other Samsung Models on AT&T To Get Delayed Security Update

After getting delayed, AT&T is finally releasing a new security patch for the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 phablet. Other than the Note 5, the Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy S5 Active will also receive the security update.

In their support page for the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, AT&T has said last Friday that the February 2017 security update is now ready for the users to download and install on their Android 6.0.1-running smartphone. The update will consume 167MB of the device's storage. The security update on the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is expected to bring security updates that would help eliminate vulnerabilities of the device. 

GSM Arena has reported that the wide release of the security patch for the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 could be felt by its users on Monday. If they want to check if the device has already received the security update, they should go to Settings, then tap the About Device menu button.

After that, users should click on the Check for System Updates button to check if they can avail the security update for their Samsung Galaxy Note 5. Once accomplishing this, it would notify them if the security patch is ready for them to download and install.

It is best to download the security patch of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 through Wi-Fi so hat it would have additional charges. Users are also advised to make sure that their phone has at least 50 percent battery life and plugged into a power source so that it could prevent the phone from dying in the middle of the updating process.

Neowin reported that besides the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, the Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy S5 Active will also get the February 2017 security patch. The Note 4 will have the 137 MB file size while the Galaxy S5 Active will have the 187 MB security patch file size.
