‘Mass Effect: Andromeda’ Latest News & Update: Bioware Reasons Plot Diversion On Why ‘Mass Effect Andromeda’ Never Happened

Mar 13, 2017 01:01 AM EDT

Bioware hopes to strike it big when “Mass Effect: Andromeda” hits shelves on March 21. Game version for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the PC are set to come out and much of that was covered at the PAX East 2017 gaming convention held in Boston.

While the attention right now is on “Mass Effect: Andromeda”, some eager folks could not help but ask why Bioware opted for a new game title rather than having a fourth installment, “Mass Effect 4”. Mac Walters, the Creative Director for “Mass Effect: Andromeda” had a simple answer to all that – they simply wanted the trilogy to end according to an interview with Attack of the Fan Boy.

Rewinding a bit to “Mass Effect 3”, players were left with a big choice in the end. That included making a choice to shape the future of the Milky Way galaxy which would have likely carried on to a “Mass Effect 4”. In what may seem like a never-ending dish, Bioware wanted to divert the attention on a new storyline and hence “Mass Effect: Andromeda”. Rather than stick to the Milky Way script, a new title focusing on the Andromeda galaxy was believed to be better and under a new game title.

Now, “Mass Effect: Andromeda” players go on a new journey that may include some flashbacks. This would be the part where gamers would embark on back stories of their squadmates, Game Spot reported. The association of characters from the “Mass Effect” trilogy was not mentioned though new storylines could be used as well.

Whatever the case may be, “Mass Effect: Andromeda” promises a whole new game comprised of game plots and features. Among the new things to expect are loyalty missions which players will be challenged to accomplish. Aside from that, there could be more so keep tabs on the game set to come out by next week.
