‘Friday The 13th: The Game’ News: PAX East Panel May Provide Update On Release Date

Mar 11, 2017 04:25 AM EST

So far, the only legitimate official news from Gun Media, the development team of “Friday the 13th: The Game,” is that the game would have an early 2017 release date. It was tweeted by the team on Jan. 7. However, there is a possibility that more details about the much-anticipated game would be unveiled at the Penny Arcade Expo East 2017 event on March 10-12.

Panel Schedule

iSports Times reports that PAX East 2017 would feature various online games and not just the usual anime and comic con events. There is a panel schedule on March 10 at 10:30 p.m. EST where fans could likely receive some update about “Friday the 13th: The Game.” The panel, titled “Going Retro in 2017: The Challenges of Yesterday and Today,” would be held at the Arachnid Theater.

According to Destructoid, the PAX East 2017 panel would have game developers discuss their design approach to games. It would include how they balance “going retro” with advantages from current technology to achieve their goals. Randy Greenback, executive producer of “Friday the 13th: The Game,” is among the six panelists for the one-hour session.

Besides the executive producer of “Friday the 13th: The Game,” other panelists are game developer Richard James Cook, Yacht Club Games level designer of “Shovel Knight” Mike Herbster, and Messhof Games developer of “Nidhogg” and “Nidhogg 2” Mark Essen. There is also Human Nature Studios creative director of “Toejam and Earl” Greg Johnson and Destructoid former editor in chief Jonathan Holmes.

Release Date Pushed Back

Fansided notes that “Friday the 13th: The Game” was originally planned by Gun Media to be released in October 2016. However, the release date has been pushed back to add single play. But after the beta version of the game was released, it encountered problems to be certified for the consoles PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. But in late December, a game live stream, featuring Jason Vorhees, was unleashed on Camp Crystal Lake.
