Apple will be releasing the fifth iOS 10.3 beta for developer testing for iPhone and iPad. This new update comes with some improvements. These include Find My AirPods support, CarPlay improvements, a newly revamped file system and a lot more. It looks like Apple was quick to respond to growing concerns about lost earphones. This fifth beta comes just one week after rollout the fourth beta of iOS 10.3. It also arrives around three months after the release of the last major update, iOS 10.2.
iOS 10.3 beta is currently available for registered developers, as well as public beta testers. Registered developers can download this from the Apple Development Center and over-the-air with the proper configuration profile installed. The public beta version of each update typically follows just a few days after the release of the developer version.
9 to 5 Mac reports that iOS 10.3 is the first update to include the Find My AirPods feature in the Find My iPhone app. This new feature records the last known location where a user's AirPods was connected to an iOS device through Bluetooth. It can play a sound on a missing AirPod. Another notable upgrade would be Wi-Fi Calling for iCloud connected devices for Verizon subscribers and a 32-bit alert that could point out that iOS 11 might only be 64-bit.
Mac Rumors reports that another notable feature would be a new Apple File System which is installed when an Apple device updates to iOS 10.3. This is optimized for flash/SSD storage and has upgraded security features like stronger encryption. This looks like Apple's response to previous security issues raised.
There are also plans to introduce some changes in the App Store in iOS 10.3 to allow developers to respond to customer review. This also enables iOS users to seamlessly label reviews as helpful or not helpful. This will work to highlight the most relevant reviews while browsing. Apple also has plans to limit the number of times wherein developers can ask for reviews without exiting and app and let users turn off all app review request prompts.
