A new report has surfaced on the 2017 edition of the iPhone. There have been numerous rumors regarding the specs, features, as wells as what potential buyers should expect. It is said that the speculated 5-inch iPhone is actually the high-end variant. It is also claimed that Apple could be calling this model the "iPhone Edition."

9to5 Mac reports that Apple is in the stage of testing a variety of different prototypes for its potential upcoming flagship model the "iPhone Edition." To be more specific, the company is reported to have been creating prototypes with and without the Home button. There are also some with different makes that are made of glass, aluminum, and ceramic. The technology used for displays also varies, with some using TFT, LCD and OLED.

In the effort to come out with the best "iPhone Edition" possible, reports also say that Apple is carrying out prototype testing with engineering validation testing of EVT. However, in order to proceed to design a validation testing, Apple needs more time to procure the materials to make final decisions. Because of this obstacle, the next flagship iPhone might be released later than expected compared to previous years.

Fortune reports that Apple had recently filed a patent for enhanced face detection using depth information. Even before, it had been said that Apple is thinking of a new way to use biometric technology, which could possibly be seen in the "iPhone Edition." This might point to one that digitally scans a person's face.

There are numerous reports regarding this year's iPhone, but most would agree that Apple would be releasing three different variants of its 2017 model. Two of which will offer minor updates over last year's iPhone 7. All the new technology is expected to be with the "iPhone Edition."

Some say it could have a curved screen and could do away with a physical home button. In place of the Home button, users would instead press their fingers against a function area on the display. Whatever Apple has finally decided to go with, it is no doubt that we are all excited. Stay tuned for updates.
