Demand for the bezelless screen Xiaomi Mi Mix 18K has gone up that the price of the most expensive edition of the smartphone has gone down by $100 to $700 from $800. Its edgeless screen surprised consumers who did not expect the Chinese phone maker to come up with such a high-tech design. The 6.4-inch phone’s price could have gone down possibly because a Mi Mix successor is speculated to be on the way.
Successor Rumored To Be Coming. Rumors about the Mi Mix successor hint the phone would be have bezels slimmer than the Xiaomi Mi Mix 18K and feature a dual-curved AMOLED display, GSM Arena reports. The current model sports a Snapdragon 821 chipset. The smartphone has 6GB RAM, 256GB storage and features 18K gold rims around the fingerprint sensor and the camera.
The price cut of $100 for the Xiaomi Mi Mix 18K is a promotional sale from March 7 through March 15. But the phone is only being sold in China, The Android Soul notes. Xiaomi claims the smartphone has a 91.3 percent screen-to-ratio which explains why the smartphone stands out from other devices, Gadgets Parade reports.
Ceramic Frame. Other unique features of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 18K are a ceramic frame instead of metal. The phone’s top does not have a proximity sensor, earpiece and selfie camera. Rather, the phone has a full screen on top. Hidden below the screen are the advanced sound transmission without a receiver that delivers sound to the ear and ultrasonic technology for the proximity sensor.
Xiaomi launched the Xiaomi Mi Mix 18K in October 2016 with a 4,400mAh battery. It comes in two variants, the 4GB/128GB model costing $515, or 3,499 yuan, and the 6GB/256GB model with a price tag of $590 or 3,999 yuan.
