‘Pokemon GO’ Latest Updates: Best Attackers Revealed, Gen 1 & Gen 2 Pokemon Make It To The List

Any player would want to get the most out of game time with "Pokemon GO." That said, one has to know which Pokemon would be best to use in different circumstances. It is important to note that not all Pokemon are made equal. Some are made to be attackers or defenders, while some are not made for both. Acquiring and honing these skills give the trainer a sense of achievement. To be the best player one can be, one should be aware of the different roles for which some Pokemon are made.

While the quest to find the best attackers and defenders might be a perennial struggle for players of "Pokemon GO," there are ready ways to help. For one, determining rankings just got a lot easier thanks to the generosity of the people from the Silph Road community on Reddit.

An informative series of infographics and spreadsheets that tackle the statistics on the new Gen 2 Pokemon were posted by Silph Road member ADD_ikt. The published data is a result of keen observation from playing "Pokemon GO" and is based on new mechanics, including double weaknesses. Old mechanics like dodging, defense and attack power have also been taken into consideration. A comprehensive Google document was even uploaded based on the bestand tested movesets of each Pokemon.

Those who are familiar with the new Gen 2 Pokemon's capabilities might find it surprising to know that Blissey and Tyranitar occupy top spots for their respective categories in "Pokemon GO." However, Blissey needs to have Hyperbeam and Pound because she is a Tier 1 attacker. Heracross makes it to be the best in its category at Tier 1.5, along with Gen 1 Pokemon Snorlax and Flareon.

Old school "Pokemon GO" favourites, which include Dragonite, Gyarados and Arcanine, continue to rule their respective categories. However, there still is some room for new Pokemon as Donphan, Scizor and Typhlosion are added to the list as top attackers. While these enlisted Pokemon might not always lead local gyms, these power rankings could give players an idea what to expect from Pokemon Gym battles in the next few months.

Of course, this is assuming all other factors stay the same. Try them out and let us know in the comments how these strategies worked out for you.
