Blizzard would not only have more story-focused content for 2017, it would also be more frequent in releasing story-related content and update. The studio has a lot of stories in the work, and Orisa and her story is the first release of the year, Michael Chu, lead writer of Blizzard, says in the official “Overwatch” forums. A Tank-class character, Orisa’s gameplay is engineered around protection.
Orisa’s Origin
“Overwatch” players who want to be more familiar with Orisa could view her on the Public Test Realm of the Blizzard game, GameSpot reports. A few days ago, the developer released in video form the story of Orisa’s origin and more information about the new character is coming soon, Chu hints. Because there was no official short or comic for Orisa unlike Ana and Sombra, DLC characters, some players thought that Blizzard is no longer into exposition and storytelling.
The game website adds that the weapon of Orisa is a Fusion Driver. It is an automatic cannon which could cause constant damage but slows down the movement speed of Orisa in “Overwatch.” Halt, her alternate weapon, when it launches a charge, could detonate to slow her foes and draw them toward the blast.
Mei’s Backstory
PVP Live writes of a rumor that Chu is hinting about the backstory of Mei. But it acknowledges that it could be something else related to the antagonist based on the Doomfist heavily teased in the Orisa Origin story. While Orisa is coming soon, “Overwatch” is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, WWG notes.
In late February, Blizzard also teased of a new character other than Orisa for “Overwatch.” She could be 11-year-old Efi Oladele who received a grant from the Adawe Foundation for her impressive achievements in artificial intelligence. It could also be one of Efi Oladele’s robotic creations.
