Samsung's notorious reputation of Note 7 is still fresh in the minds of everyone, prompting other companies to put their products' safety on another level. The company's rival company LG has taken precautions on what happened to the phone and to its users.

ABC has reported that LG announced that they will double the separation between the battery's positive and negative chambers in order to reduce the risk of having a short. Their investigators recently found out that the overly thin separations were partly to blame for the technical problems of Note 7 that caused inconvenience and damage to its users.

Top Tech News LG designed again their phone's interior in order to separate the two main sources of the smartphone's heat: the main processor and the display driver. They will also turn the other components into heat sinks to dispel heat.

LG Spokesman Frank Lee said that the company will do this to keep the phone safe. He stated that they will start placing the two sources as far apart as possible then build the phone around it.

Economic Times has reported that the South Korean tech conglomerate hasn't had any failures on their phones so far but Lee said that they want assurance to their users. LG wants to give a greater safety assurance to all the phones they sell, he added.

"What's important for [LG] is to make sure that they present to their subscribers a quality, stable product," Lee said in an interview. "This caught the entire market off-guard."

After numerous reports of overheating and getting caught on fire, Samsung recalled millions of the Not 7 phones. The company blamed the batteries for the numerous problems the users experienced, which prompted them to abandon Samsung and go to other smartphones like LG and Apple. They also promised to have stricter quality controls and rigorous testing.

LG announced its flagship phone, the LG G6, ahead of its official launch at the Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona, Spain. Meanwhile, Samsung has yet to launch their next major phone, the Samsung Galaxy S8.
