OnePlus 5/ OnePlus 4 reportedly might retain its name as OnePlus 5 on its launch. The Chinese flagship phone will reportedly feature a glass and metal body. OnePlus is rumored to jump straight to OnePlus 5 naming ditching the OnePlus 4 branding as the number "four" considered unlucky in China.
According to Mobipicker, OnePlus 5 might feature a glass and metal body. With this feature, it is considerably noticeable that the OnePlus is heading towards a square off with the Samsung Galaxy S8. This would also mean that the affordable price consumers recently look forward to might be dropped in view of this feature, as glass and metal body does not come cheap.
However, a glass and metal finish on a smartphone could also mean that OnePlus 5 might support Qi wireless charging feature. If this speculation is true, then it might underwrite a higher release price at launch.
OnePlus 5 is also said to sport a Ceramic body just like the Xiaomi Mi MIX. On chipset side, the reports claim that the OnePlus may wait for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor.
Inside OnePlus 5 might feature 6GB RAM with 64GB internal memory and will run on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat. The device is also said to support USB Type-C for connectivity.
On the camera front, OnePlus 5 will have a 16MP front camera along with a 23MP rear camera. The device will pack a 4000mAH battery that will support company's Dash Charge technology for fast charging, according to Indian Express.
When OnePlus entered into the smartphone market, it gave users an absolute steal of a smartphone with a very affordable price. However, there is still no information about official launch date or pricing on the OnePlus 5. Of course, the details need to be taken with a pinch of salt as its authenticity can't be verified directly from the OnePlus.
