iOS 10.3 Beta Latest News & Update: Next Mobile Operating System Has Big Holes To Fill In 2017

Mar 01, 2017 08:05 AM EST

Apple’s iOS 10.3 beta is now available and some eager iPhone or iPad owners can give it a try to see what lies ahead. With iOS 10.2.1 still falling short of addressing flaws and issues, most are hoping that the next mobile operating system will cover all bases once it is finalized and rolled out.

Right now, iOS 10.2.1 is the immediately available update for Apple device owners. Among the top fixes, it will offer to include the celebrated battery bug fix which has plagued the iPhone 6 and 6s. Known better as the 30-percent battery bug, affected iPhone 6 and 6s users hope that the latest iOS finally address cases where devices would abnormally shut down, Forbes reported.

The hitch is that iOS 10.2.1 does not guarantee fixing problems 100-percent. Through a confession with Tech Crunch, a reduction of about 80-percent for the iPhone 6s and over 70-percent for the iPhone 6 are expected. Seeing that there is little room to fix the celebrated problem, most are now pinning hopes on iOS 10.3 to address that plus other problems for Apple devices as of the moment. Among the new problems that iOS 10.2.1 brings include screen brightness, Touch ID, Bluetooth connectivity and battery drain issues.

Aside from the fixes, there are plenty to look forward to with iOS 10.3. That includes limiting how often an app (pop-ups) can bug users (with reference to solicited feedback and reviews). Other than that, there could be new features such as a floating keyboard which should come in handy for smaller devices, Apple Insider reported.

iOS 10.3 beta was made available Tuesday and also upgrades the Apple File System (APFS). No release date has been mentioned as of this writing though there is belief that it may roll out in the first half of 2017. Devices which can give iOS 10.3 a try include the iPhone 7, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6, iPhone 5s, iPad Air and iPad Mini 2, Gotta Be Mobile reported.
