'Pokemon GO' News: Niantic Employee Teases Everyone To 'Save Your Candies!' What Does It Mean?

Mar 01, 2017 11:42 AM EST

A few days ago, one of Niantics employees yelled “save your candies” while they were accepting an award. This could mean just about anything.

"Pokemon GO" recently won the award for the "Best Mobile Game of 2016" at the D.I.C.E (Design, Innovate, Communicate, and Entertain) summit in Las Vegas. This is a huge achievement for the game but the focus of everyone turned toward the cryptic message a Niantic employee told reporters at the event.

At the event one of Niantics employees said "save your candies" while they were accepting an award. This could mean just about anything. Though, a theory might shed some light for what this actually means. It's possible that Niantic will be adding a new feature to the "Pokemon GO."

Otakukart notes that the theory and the feature which makes the most sense would be breeding. Now other features could be added in the "Pokemon GO", but none that involve saving candies. Publication says that the reason you may need to save candies for breeding is because it will take a certain amount of candies.

It makes sense if you think about it. Why add a feature that allows players to get Pokemon and Pokemon eggs from breeding. Then the trainers highlight said Pokemon. Without there being a means of sacrifice. Breeding would be completely game breaking. If breeding is what the team aimed while saying "save your candies". It would be hard to say on how many it would actually take.

However, the reason it doesn't make sense for this upcoming feature to be breeding is because the employee didn't mention anything about saving each gender. This means we are in the dark until the information is actually released.

On the other hand, another report from the Pokemon GO Informer claims that, the saying by Niantic employee must be hinting at the double XP event. Niantic have given a double XP event in the past, and it's been months since then, so it about time for another one.

If it is a double XP event, however, the question arises that, when will it happen? The next obvious event would be an Easter event, but due to the symbolic nature of eggs, event might be probably based around hatching eggs, and not double XP.
